Pakistan Centre for Autism (PCA) was established in 2012 with a visionary mandate to create an inclusive and supportive society where children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental challenges can lead functional, meaningful, and respectable lives. Founded by Dr. Saeed Ismail, inspired by Prof. Dr. Abdul Gaffar Billoo, and supported by dedicated philanthropists and healthcare professionals, PCA has emerged as a premier institution for specialized autism care in Pakistan.
Beginning from a single center in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, PCA has expanded its footprint across Karachi into three operational branches, serving over 1,000 individuals with special needs. The center focuses on early identification, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and smooth integration into mainstream educational systems, having successfully transitioned dozens of children into mainstream schools.
Core Interventions & Specialized Services:
Diagnostic Assessment & IEP Development: Comprehensive clinical and developmental assessments conducted by multi-disciplinary experts to evaluate every child’s cognitive, sensory, and behavioral profile. Based on these insights, individualized Education Plans (IEP) are structured to track progress and hit personalized milestones.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy: Scientific, evidence-based behavioral intervention designed to foster adaptive behaviors, improve focus, reduce challenging behaviors, and teach essential daily living skills.
Speech & Language Therapy: Targeted communication sessions designed to enhance verbal expression, speech clarity, non-verbal communication, and pragmatic social skills.
Occupational & Physical Therapy (OT/PT): Hands-on sensory integration and motor skills therapy that enhances fine/gross motor coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and physical independence in day-to-day routines.
School Readiness & Remedial Education: Structured pre-academic programs that replicate classroom settings to build attention span, social interaction, and classroom etiquette, alongside remedial support for children facing specific learning difficulties.
Capacity Building & Professional ABA Training: PCA serves as a hub for training parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The center provides clinical internships and professional ABA workshops supervised by certified experts to build skilled human resource capacity across the country.
Through strong advocacy, community engagement, and family counseling, Pakistan Centre for Autism remains committed to breaking social stigma and empowering every individual with autism to realize their full potential.
